Learning Objectives

Knowledge about the influence of infrastructures in the planning of the territory and to participate in the urbanization of public urban space. - Instruments for reading the territory. Information systems for territorial and environmental planning and management. Protected natural spaces. The system of human settlements. - Hydrological planning and technical services (telecommunications network and electrical energy supply network). - Transport infrastructures (road and rail network). - Origins and evolution of Urban Planning instruments. Territorial planning and Municipal Urban Planning plans. - The city and urban services. The systems of urban planning and the urbanization project. - Concept of mobility and sustainable networks. - The infrastructures from their relationship with nature. The environmental impact study of infrastructure projects. The strategic environmental assessment. 1 Ability to analyze an urban structure identifying the causes of its development. 2 Ability to analyze the development of infrastructure in the territory. 3 Ability to analyze the development of urban service networks. - Reading the territory: the topographical plan. - Territorial systems, technical services and transport infrastructures in the construction of cities. The construction of the urban system. Characteristics of the road, rail, telecommunications and energy supply networks in relation to the characteristics of the territory where they are implemented. Relationships between transport networks and the growth of cities. Measures to improve water supply: improvement of resources (desalination, regulation) and decrease in demand (savings, reuse). The open spaces (hydrographic network, natural spaces, coastal strip) Network of corridors and biological suppliers. The green infrastructure. - Urban planning: the urban revolution from the 19th century, the increase in the world population and the concentration in cities. Urban planning instruments: the planning of cities and the occupation of the territory. Urban planning and territorial planning in Catalonia - Mobility. Scientific-technical training for the exercise of the profession of Technical Engineer of Public Works and knowledge of the functions of advice, analysis, design, calculation, project, construction, maintenance, conservation and exploitation.

Ability to carry out territorial planning studies and environmental aspects related to infrastructure, in its field.

Teaching Methodology

The course consists of 2 hours per week of classroom activity (large size group) and 2 hours weekly (medium size group). The 2 hours in the large size groups are devoted to theoretical lectures, in which the teacher presents the basic concepts and topics of the subject, shows examples and solves exercises. The 2 hours in the medium size groups is devoted to solving practical problems with greater interaction with the students. The objective of these practical exercises is to consolidate the general and specific learning objectives. Support material in the form of a detailed teaching plan is provided using the virtual campus ATENEA: content, program of learning and assessment activities conducted and literature. Although most of the sessions will be given in the language indicated, sessions supported by other occasional guest experts may be held in other languages.

Grading Rules

The evaluation calendar and grading rules will be approved before the start of the course.

To assess there will be 2 tests of knowledge: exams to verify the follow-up of the subject (50%) The weight of the mark of each exam will depend on the number of subjects that will fall to each partial exam. The rest of the grade depends on the presentation and quality of the practical exercises delivered to the Athenaeum (30%). The remaining 20% corresponds to the course work, in groups which is compulsory. Attendances and deliveries of the exercises proposed in class help to re-scale the grade To take the extraordinary exam, you must have the coursework and the internships delivered. Criteria of qualification and of admission to the re-evaluation: the students suspended in the ordinary evaluation that have presented regularly in the proofs of evaluation of the asignatura suspended they will have the option of taking a re-assessment test in the period set in the academic calendar. Students who have already passed the subject, nor students qualified as not presented, will not be able to take the re-assessment test for a subject. The rating maximum in the case of taking the re-assessment exam will be five (5.0). The non-attendance of a student summoned to the re-evaluation test, held in the fixed period no may give rise to another test at a later date. Extraordinary assessments will be conducted for those students who due to accredited force majeure have not been able to take any of the continuous assessment tests. Test Rules

There will be a maximum of 2 exams each year and the extraordinary call if the case arises
